Create, Process , and Transform
Hello and welcome!
Before I was an Art Therapist I began as a mentor for gang youth, kids in crisis, and young females in a maximum security prison tried as adults. From there I pursued a degree in Psychology and Linguistics which allowed me to study how people process and effectively community with the world around them. As an artist I felt it necessary to include different mediums of art which pushed me into a Masters of Art Therapy.
Since graduating in 2014 I have worked in more specialized areas of Trauma, specifically victims of mass shootings and terrorism. I worked for 5 Years for a non-profit as an Art Therapist in Newtown, CT servicing families and first responders of Sandy Hook school shooting. While there I worked with individuals, groups, and co-led a summer camp with America's Camp for children of 9/11 Victims and Sandy Hook students. Upon leaving Newtown I co-owned and operated a private practice for 2 years before transferring down to Houston, TX where I currently reside. I continue to hold Licensures in both CT & TX as well as a Board Certification as a Registered Art Therapist. I am also a holistic practitioner where I see the mind, body, spirit as part of the whole. I believe it is important to acknowledge your history and the power of your unconscious before healing can begin.
I am honored to be a part of the change happening and bring creative and alternative modalities to the field of Mental Health. No matter where you are on your journey of healing be proud of how far you have come.
I'm glad you're here!
